Polychrome statue of Bishamonten
Also called Tamonten, he is the chief of the Four Heavenly Kings guardian of the four directions, himself guarding the North direction. As a "chief", an important figure in Japanese Buddhism. This wooden polychrome figure of Bishamonten is in very good shape considering it is from the mid Edo period (17-18th c.).
