Keyaki Kakesuzuri-bako
A rare kakesuzuri-bako (portable writing box) solidly constructed with thick and boldly grained Keyaki (elm family, zelkova,) wood drawers face and case, with cedar (cryptomeria, sugi) drawer interiors. I was probably used by an itinerary clerk. Meiji era.
