This imari rectangular piece is decorated with
a fish motives in underglaze blue (sometsuke)
with a technique of stencil known as “katagami”.
This technique was invented during “genroku” era
(second part or 17th century), and mostly used
during this period. It was revived only at the
beginning or 20th century. The technique was borrowed
from the textile production.
